Moultrie Montessori School is very pleased to officially announce its upcoming move to a new campus located at 37 South Dixie Highway. While this move was unexpected, the new campus is much better in a variety of ways, and will be our permanent home.
The campus consists of four lots. Three of the lots have houses on them and one is a drive through and parking lot. There is one house for each age group: elementary (6-12 years), primary (3-6 years), and toddler (1 ½- 3 years). The toddler group will share a house with the office. The joined back yards of the houses provide a lovely playground where there is a huge and fabulous grandfather live oak tree. Everything about it fits Moultrie Montessori.
Our new campus is in a centrally located neighborhood. While Dixie Highway is a light commercial area, the connecting streets are residential, which is much more suitable for a small school than our previous location was. There is easy access from both U.S. 1 and State Road 207 (one block west of U.S. 1 and one block north of State Road 207). It is also a pleasant drive on Masters Drive from State Road 16. If you are coming on I-95, the 207 exit is best.
The houses, built between 1950 and 1962, have been vacant and neglected for several years and are in need of repair and renovation. We are very fortunate to have an exceptionally capable renovation team, who communicate and work together well. This is significant in making things happen smoothly and in a timely manner. They are also willing to work with volunteers in order to lower our costs.
We are very enthusiastic about creating a beautiful campus, inside and out, where children and staff are supported in learning, growing, and developing their potential in collaboration with others. This is an exciting time for Moultrie Montessori School and I look forward to contributing to our new neighborhood and larger community.
